The Day the Bombs Fell (working title)
An Anthology Set in the Age of Fire & Ash World
The Day the Bombs Fell is a collaborative anthology set in the Fire & Ash universe, capturing a single moment in time: the day everything changed.
Different places.
Different people.
Different endings… or beginnings.
This anthology is an open invitation to writers, poets, and artists who want to explore the chaos, fear, courage, and transformation of that day.
What We’re Looking For
We want raw, immersive, character-driven stories that take place on the day the bombs fall.
Think:
- The moment the sirens start (or don’t)
- The instant realization that this is real
- Survival decisions made too fast—or too late
- Final goodbyes… or first betrayals
- Unexpected acts of humanity—or brutality
This is not about global politics.
This is about human experience in the moment of collapse.
Submission Guidelines (Fiction)
Recommended (and encouraged):
- Word Count: 2,500 – 5,000 words (ideal balance for pacing and reader engagement)
- Minimum: 1,000 words (shorter pieces accepted, but will earn a smaller royalty share)
- Maximum: 7,000 words (only if the story truly earns the space)
Because this is a royalty share project, word count directly impacts your percentage. Stories in the 2.5k–5k range tend to perform best both for readers and for fair distribution.
Other Requirements:
- Must be set within the Fire & Ash world
- Must take place on the day the bombs fall
- Original, unpublished work (exceptions can be discussed)
- Strong voice and emotional impact over technical perfection
Poetry Submissions
Poetry is welcome—but with a note of realism.
- Single poems are accepted, but will receive a very small royalty percentage due to length
- Poetry bundles (3–5 pieces) are strongly encouraged
- Submissions should feel connected by perspective, moment, or theme
Think of poetry here as emotional snapshots of impact.
Art Submissions
We are accepting a limited number of visual pieces.
Requirements:
- Must be 100% original artwork
- No AI-generated art
- No photo compositing or stock manipulation
- Must fit the tone and theme of the anthology
Important Notes:
- The print version will be black and white only
- Artwork will be featured in:
- eBook editions (full quality)
- Promotional materials
- Website showcases
Artists will receive a royalty share equivalent based on contribution and placement.
💰 Compensation & Rights
This is a royalty share anthology, designed as both a collaborative project and a long-term opportunity.
- Contributors receive a percentage of royalties based on:
- Word count (fiction & poetry)
- Contribution weight (artwork)
- Payments are ongoing, not one-time
Rights & Flexibility
All submissions are exclusive for the first 90 days after publication.
After that:
- All rights are non-exclusive
- You are free to:
- Republish your work anywhere
- Expand it into a longer story or novel
- Include it in your own collections
This means your submission isn’t just a short story—it can become something bigger.
A Note for Authors
This anthology is intentionally built to support:
- Prologues to future novels within the Fire & Ash World
- Reader magnets for promoting
- Origin stories for characters you plan to continue
If readers connect with your piece here, you have full freedom to take that story further once the exclusivity window closes.
The Bigger Vision
This isn’t just one book.
The Day the Bombs Fell is the beginning of a shared-world storytelling project within The Age of Fire & Ash.
This world will continue to expand through:
- Future anthologies
- Interconnected stories
- New perspectives across the same timeline
There are countless stories hidden in the moment everything ended.
Some of them are yours.
Content Expectations
This is a dark, apocalyptic setting. Submissions may include:
- Violence
- Moral ambiguity
- Emotional distress
- Survival-driven decisions
That said—shock alone isn’t the story.
We’re looking for depth, consequence, and human impact.
How to Submit
Please include:
- Your name (or pen name)
- Title of your piece
- Word count
- A short 1–2 paragraph synopsis
- Your submission attached

Final Note
On that day… everyone had a story.
Most of them were never told.
This is your chance to tell one.
